Message from Lisa (Beau's Mum) - We are truly grateful for the mad men that cycled and would like to say a deep heartfelt thankyou to everyone for their support and generosity, Love Lisa & Steve

WE ALL SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE 114 MILES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wheels for wheels is a single money raising event which was four people cycling 114 miles from Anglesey in Wales to Manchester in one day, aiming to raise £1,200 for a wheelchair for a severely autistic teenager.

After a long day in the saddle, starting at 8:30 am in Anglesey we finished in Wythenshaw Park, Manchester at 7:15 pm.  The ride was very enjoyable travelling through the north wales countryside and coastal path.  The bikes held up with only three punctures between us all, probably caused the the slight 3 mile off-road track (sorry Ben!) which isn't ideal on very thin tyred road bikes.  At Wythenshaw Park we were greeted by a big cheer from our supports with a Champagne reception.  A big thank-you to all our supports considering they had been waiting for 2.5 hours in the rain.

Thank-you to all the riders: Ben, Tomasz, Stuart and David and especially to our two support car drivers: Hazel and Frank, who kept topping up our food supplies, drink supplies and even changing Ben's bike (he has a different one for the hills!)

For those that like stats: 114 miles, average speed was 16.8mph until we hit muddy tracks and then it dropped to 16mph, total evelvation was 2250ft.
Why do we need a Wheelchair?

Beau is a thirteen year old boy who has severe Autism. Beau is able to walk but has no sense of danger and requires a safe retreat when the world gets a little overwhelming.

Normally wheelchairs are funded by the local council but when someone who is physically able to walk, but on occasions requires the safety of a wheelchair, you enter a grey area and the fight begins.  The council have accepted Beau does need a wheelchair as they will provide a £250 voucher towards the cost. Unfortunately for £250 you don't get a lot of chair!

In order to move forward and help Beau a small group of cyclists have decided to cycle from Anglesey to Manchester to raise the £1,200 for the wheelchair.

Once Beau has the chair he can be safely taken out - something we all take for granted.  Beau's Mum and Dad are very grateful for this fund raising event.

I have set up a paypal account to accept donations which can be accessed below or on the donate page.

All money will go directly to the wheelchair fund (I will make pay the paypal commission so all your money goes towards the wheelchair).  The cost of the ride will be covered by the cyclists.

Thank you for any donation, however small, as it is greatly appreciated

Total raised so far....£1,400

Any money raised beyond £1,200 will be donated to the ABC Family Group to help run the two groups for special needs children.
